SUMMARY OF THE STORY Values raised: - Determination, optimism, perseverance, diligence, openness & willingness to embrace challenges, courage, persistence, endurance, resilience etc. The experience : - The story left a deep meaning. It was a unique experience. It left a deep imprint on the narrator’s mind. He had experienced the feelings, the sensation of dying and the terror that fear can produce. His terror of water and his conquest of it gave him an insight into the meaning of life and death. He felt there is peace in death. So, he lived more intensely. He enjoyed life.                                                                                                                                                     Knocked down by a wave: - Douglas was about four years old. He visited a beach with his father. They stood in the surf. A powerful wave swept over him and knocked him down. He was buried in water. He was terrified.
